Imagine a scene. It’s early August, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the Garden of England, aka Kent, is bursting at the seams with incredible fruit.
Hearing the siren song of great, fresh, British produce, Soda Bosses Ed & Robyn simply had to swing down to Wadhurst for a peep at the infamous Maynards family run fruit farm.
Great bounty did they find, row upon row of ripening Lancelot plums, gleaming redcurrants and exotic, fuzzy red gooseberries. Treated to a guided tour with Tom Maynard, owner and manager of this fruit paradise, it wasn’t long before a field of verdant Blackcurrant bushes came into view, rustling in the summer breeze.
After a great tour of the farm, and a few thoroughly staining handfuls and mouthfuls of Blackcurrants later, we knew exactly what we needed to do. Just a few short processes later, namely our signature mushing, squeezing and blending, and we have a brand new, fresh and balanced, punchy seasonal Blackcurrant Soda.
Packed with the powerful sharp-yet-sweet fruit flavour of Tom’s Blackcurrants, balanced lightly with a touch of British beet sugar and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, we’re very chuffed with this soda, and we think you will be too.
